According to statistics, the third Monday in January is the day most people struggle with throughout the year – the holidays are over, the days are still too short, it’s grey and usually wet with spring still out of reach. It’s been labelled as Blue Monday and it’s a day when, more than ever, we need to rally together and open up about mental health issues.
This year, The Stable, Bournemouth is taking part in GYST – Get Your Shirt Together. Founded by Maddie Crawford, the campaign is a carefree approach to opening up the conversation about mental health and brightening someone’s day. To help combat the blues and raise awareness, our staff will be wearing Hawaiian shirts. It’s a simple gesture, but even if it raises only one smile or gets only a tiny chuckle, it’s doing its job in helping someone through Blue Monday.
In partnership with Dorset Mind year round, we support initiatives aiming to help relieve the stigma the surrounds mental health. Helping to make people smile makes us feel good and connects us to our communities.
