The Inaugural National Pizza awards were held recently, one of our founders, and Executive Chef Andy won The Technical Pizza Prize!
After cooking with fresh dough and some great ingredients right in front of the judges in a wood fired oven, he somehow managed to keep the pressure at bay, and scooped the Technical Pizza award. Up against 16 other finalists, he competed and won the category at the Islington Metal Works at the Grand Final in front of industry peers, press and of course those judges. Presiding over the chefs were Tom Oldroyd, chef and proprietor at Oldroyd and former chef director of the Polpo Group; gastronomic consultant Douglas Blyde; celebrity chef Joe Hurd; Sokofeh Hejazi, chef and food consultant at Marks & Spencer; Adrian Howe of Britvic; and Casual Dining group editor Tristan O’Hana.
Andy’s stoked to receive the award and it’s spurred him on to create some even better monthly specials for the coming months. Check out this picture of Andy receiving his award!
