The Stable Exeter worked alongside Dan from The Cider Box to attempt the largest cider tasting ever been done! The record was held by The Oast House pub in Manchester where 255 keen cider drinkers tasted 3 different ciders all produced by Aspall.
In hope to bring the accolade home to the West Country Dan Heath from The Cider Box came up with the idea to try to better the record and The Stable Exeter were more than happy to fill their restaurant with cider lovers. Tickets included a t-shirt, nibbles, and samplings of the eight ciders on the shortlist for The Stable’s Cider of the Year Award.
Not only did we have 282 Cider lovers with us excited to break the world record, we had a few famous Devon faces, Miss Devon, Clara George came to say hello, and the Lord Mayor of Exeter along with his Consort came down to taste some cider. Thanks for coming down guys, it was a pleasure to meet you! With £2 of every £10 ticket sold donated to MIND, the mental health charity, the event was a fantastic fundraising success too.
We had an evening of fun, more cider and live music including Horning Glory and Cut Throat Francis that kicked off just after the record was broken!
The host of the evening Dan Heath from The Cider Box says, “We’re totally thrilled. The world record is back where it belongs – at home in Cider Country. It was a dream of ours and we’re grateful to everyone who joined in and helped make it a delicious, cidery reality. Plus, we raised money for a very worthy charity and had a laugh doing it. Saturday was a winning day!”.
To the people who came to help us smash the world record, thank you, we applaud you, you’re all full blown Cider Heads, and we love you! Saturday the 18th August will now go down in Stable History as the day we smashed the World Record for The Largest Cider Tasting.
